MPC Containers, a German containership owner and operator that focuses on the feeder segment, has purchased two second hand vessels for US$18.4 million.
The company acquired a 2008-built 2,564-TEU vessel to be renamed AS Petulia and a 2003-built 1,200-TEU vessel to be renamed AS Frida. The identity of the seller was not disclosed, reported Singapore's Splash 24/7.
The ships will join MPC's fleet in November and will expand the fleet size to 25 vessels.
The acquisition is in line with the company's plans to build up a fleet of 100 ships, MPC's chief executive Ulf Hollander revealed in October.
